Hundreds of students of Government Model High School, Naundero, took to streets here on Tuesday against sheer negligence of SEPCO authorities for their failure to install electricity meter and Pole Mounted Transformer (PMT) at their school since last ten years despite full payment.
The students wearing school uniforms came out on roads after closing their school led by their principal Ghulam Sarwar Mithani, marched towards Bhutto House where they held protest demonstration in front of the main gate holding large banners in their hands and were shouting slogans. They staged sit-in outside the house. PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Women Wing President MPA Faryal Talpur were available inside the house. They were also joined by their teachers Nisar Ahmed, Seerat Asghar, Mubarak Rahujo, Zeeshan Qadri, Niaz Lashari and others. Local civilians Ghulam Hyder Narejo, Javed Bhutto and others also joined their protest. The principal and the teachers complained while talking to media that due to unavailability of electricity education of hundreds of students has been destroyed and their future is at stake. They said computers are lying idle, washrooms are without water and cleanliness has also very badly suffered which is must.
They said over 500 students are enrolled in the school but cannot get proper education due to unavailability of electricity. They said during summer these students get education in sizzling heat which is inhuman. They further said that on 15.11.2010 Sepco Demand Notice of Rs 8000 was paid through cheque No: 0668569 by Education Works Department and cost of PMT was paid through cheque No: 0668599 on 12.11.2010 amounting to Rs:359,738 but both have not yet been installed since ten years hence school is running without electricity due to failure of corrupt Sepco officers. Finally DSP Illahi Bux Soomro came to them and held talks with the agitating teachers. They demanded to talk to PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari directly and make him a complaint. They were taken inside the Bhutto House but could not meet Bilawal despite waiting for three long hours. The agitating teachers and students called off their sit-in and returned to their homes without any result.
