Caretaker Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Azam Khan on Saturday chaired a meeting with cabinet members and discussed holding peaceful and transparent general elections in the province. Azam Khan on this occasion said that conducting peaceful and transparent general elections in the province was the top priority of his interim government. He said special attention would be given to improving the law and order situation in the province.
The interim CM said that the caretaker provincial government was fully aware of its responsibilities regarding the fair and transparent conduct of the general elections and would provide full support to the election commission in this regard. Wise utilization of available financial resources will be ensured and unnecessary expenditure will be avoided, said Azam Khan He said that all possible efforts would be made to resolve the financial difficulties faced by the province, adding the financial affairs of the province would be taken up effectively before the federal government. The caretaker CM said that all possible efforts would be made to achieve the constitutional and legal rights of the province, including the merged districts.
He expressed hope that the federal government, especially Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, would cooperate in this regard. He asked the caretaker ministers to try their best to perform their duties effectively. KP Caretaker CM takes notice of petrol shortage: Caretaker Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Muhammad Azam Khan has taken notice of the public complaints regarding the unavailability of petrol and diesel at petrol pumps in some cities of the province.
According to an official handout issued here on Saturday, the chief minister has directed the Chief Secretary to seek a report from Deputy Commissioners across the province. The action has been taken in wake of rumours of a possible increase in the prices of petroleum products and there were some complaints about the unavailability of petrol at some petrol pumps. The Chief Minister has directed the concerned authorities to ensure round the clock the availability of petrol and diesel to consumers at petrol pumps across the province and initiation of legal action against those creating hardships for the general public. Furthermore, the caretaker chief minister has also called a report regarding the situation of flour availability in the province.
Jirga of Bajaur Peace Action Committee meet DC, DPO: The members of Bajaur Peace Action Committee held a Jirga with Deputy Commissioner Bajaur Fahad Wazir and DPO Bajaur Shaukat Ali at Deputy Commissioner House Bajaur. DPO Bajaur briefed the Jirga and the Peace Action Committee regarding peace and law and order and anti-narcotics measures.
The DPO said that they will eliminate the hired killers from Bajaur and so far the hired killers involved in many cases have been arrested. He said that they are starting a special campaign against drug dealers and contract killers from next week. He said that in five cases of murder, 2 suspects have been arrested so far and an investigation is going on. He urged the tribal elders to cooperate with the police in this regard. The members of the Peace Action Committee demanded that concrete measures should be taken to improve the peace, law and order situation. Blockades should be increased by increasing joint police and army patrols.
The series of patrols should be restarted in different areas so that the confidence of the people is restored. Members of Bajaur Peace Action Committee Maulana Abdul Rasheed, Tehsil Chairman Khar Haji Syed Badshah, Malik Mohammadi Shah, Haji Sardar Khan, Sheikh Jahanzada, Dr. Hameed, Siraj Khan, Malik Gul Karim Khan, Qari Abdul Majeed, Malik Shaheen and others participated in the Jirga.
