KARACHI: At least 68 illegal travellers to foreign country were apprehended during an operation by Pakistan Coast Guards.
Sources said that Pakistan Coast Guards – during checking of different vehicles and buses at Jeevani and Shah Jehan posts –apprehended 68 people that were trying to enter Iran illegally. Among the arrested was an Afghan national, two were Irani nationals while 65 were Pakistani citizens.
According to the coast guards, all suspects were attempting to cross the Pak-Iran border without legal documents. After preliminary investigation all suspects were handed over to FIA officials in Gwadar for further interrogation. It is pertinent to mention here that 1,217 illegal foreign travellers have been arrested by Pakistan Coast Guards from January 2016 to till now.
